カール・ストーン（Carl Stone）

カール・ストーンはライブコンピュータミュージックの先駆者の一人であり、1986年からライブパフォーマンスでコンピューターを使用している。ヴィレッジボイス誌で「サンプリングの王者」「現在（アメリカ）に生きる最も優れた作曲家の一人」、レリックス誌では「ストーンの音楽は覚醒状態に見る閃光のように耳を鼓舞させる。」と賞賛される。彼は米国ロサンゼルスで生まれ、現在はロサンゼルスと日本を拠点に活動。カリフォルニア芸術大学で、モートン・サボトニック、ジェームズ・テニーに師事し、1972年から電子アコースティック音楽の作曲を始めて以来、この分野は殆ど彼の独壇場である。彼の作品は、米国、カナダ、ヨーロッパ、アジア、オーストラリア、南米、近東で演奏されている。また、中京大学工学部メディア工学科の名誉教授でもあり、現在は、演奏、作曲、ツアーを勢力的におこない、世界中で活躍している。

Carl Stone is one of the pioneers of live computer music, and has used computers in live performance since 1986. He has been hailed by the Village Voice as “the king of sampling.” and “one of the best composers living in (the USA) today.” RELIX has written that “Stone makes music that can hit your ear holes like a DMT flash.”He was born in California and now divides his time between LA and Japan. He studied composition at the California Institute of the Arts with Morton Subotnick and James Tenney and has composed electro-acoustic music almost exclusively since 1972. His works have been performed in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia, South America and the Near East. In addition to his schedule of performance, composition and touring, he is the emeritus professor in the Department of Media Engineering at Chukyo University in Japan.

赤い日ル女（Akaihirume）

歌手。自作曲と多様な発声による即興表現の両方で、単独での演奏や様々な分野の表現者と共作、共演活動をしている。

Akaihirume is a Japanese singer whose ear is always tuned to the world’s sounds, which she keeps as material in her shell.
As both her own compositions and improvisations using her wide range of vocalizations, she has worked on her solo performances and collaborations with artists of various styles.

QUANTUM ARIA (Carl Stone and Akaihirume)

Carl Stone and Akaihirume began their collaboration in 2015 in Tokyo, and formalized as a unit in 2025, under the name QUANTUM ARIA. They have performed for the BBC, around Japan, Canada, Taiwan, Singapore and throughout the United States, to enthusiastic responses and standing ovations. Recent festival appearances include Bang On A Can Long Play (Brooklyn), send & receive (Winnipeg), Other Minds (San Francisco) and LANDFES (Tokyo). In writing about a recent New York performance, critic Nick Zurko has written: “What unfolded onstage was both sonically accessible and temporally exhaustive as Akaihirume and Stone entered into what could be described as an esoteric and aural courting dance that entranced the entire audience….I’ve never been moved to jump out of my seat at the end of the performance but I’ll be damned if I didn’t even realize I was standing until I had been clapping rapturously along with the rest of the crowd for a couple minutes.”
