ウィスパーボイス/ハスキーボイスと、共に奏でるドリーミィなエレキギター。 3-4分ほどの時を止め、どこか遠くへ連れて行ってくれるような、そんな時間を作るのが、Marina Yozora。

ドリームポップ、インディーズポップ、シューゲイザーのシンガーソングライター。

日本生まれですが、幼少期や青春はアメリカのテキサス州のヒューストンとベトナム共和国のホーチミンでした。

もうすぐで、イギリスへお引越します。 

そんな私にとって、音楽はとても大事なもの。

父の車の中で聴いていたラジオやCDから、1980年代〜2010年代のポップス、インディーズ、オルタナティブなど、様々なジャンルを聞きます。複数の国で生きてきた私にとって、音楽は自分と人を繋ぐ大事なものでした。

大きくなるにつれて、それは私の夢とパッションになり、やがて自分の曲を描くようになります。

現在のMarinaは、ドリームポップ、シューゲイザー、アンビエント、ベッドルームポップ、インディーズポップ、インディーフォーク、オルタナティブなどの音楽に着地しています。これからもきっと、もっと幅を広げるでしょう。

去年の夏、ロンドンのソングライティングスクールへ一週間行ってきました。

そこで出会った友人/レコーディングエンジニアと共に、人生で初めてのリリースとなった曲を作成しました。

その曲が、Spotify/Apple Music/YouTubeにある、「Watermelon Pink Blue Skies」です。

私の友人でもあるレコーディングエンジニアは、この曲を初めて聴いた時、「レコーディングしなければ」と思ってくれたそうです。

この曲は、アメリカ、イギリス、オーストラリア、ベネズエラなどで、10件以上のラジオで流していただいており、そのうちの一つのラジオは、世界でもインディーズ界で有名なKEXPでした。

イギリスのあるラジオパーソナリティの方が、こう語っていました：

「Watermelon Pink Blue Skiesは、流れるようなアレンジ、独創的なインストゥルメンテーション、セラフィックなヴォーカル、粉砕的なクオリティを持つ、魅惑的なトラックだ。非常にユニークな音楽的アイデンティティを創造する大きな可能性を持っていると思う。」

今年の5月はロサンゼルスへ行き、友人のレコーディングエンジニアや新しい音楽仲間たちと修行をしました。

 いよいよ、10/21からはイギリスのロンドンへお引越し、２年間、Marina Yozoraを目一杯活動してきます。

ずっと温めてきた新曲のリリースも、複数個、まもなくdropされます！

私にとって、海外へ渡ることが目的なのではなく、

自分にしか作れない作品を、もっと海を超えて、たくさんの人たちの心に届けたい。

様々な仲間たちと、唯一無二の作品を作りたい。

今しかない、と心の奥ですごく想うところがあります。

私の後にも残るような、私にしか作れない、そんな良い作品をたくさん残していきたいです。

With a whispery/husky voice blending with dreamy electric guitar sounds, Marina Yozora captivates 3-4 minutes of your time to a vast place.

She is a dream pop, indie pop, shoegazey singer-songwriter, born in Japan, but also spent her childhood in Houston Texas USA and Ho Chi Minh city Vietnam.

It all started in her father’s car, where she listened to 1980s~2010s pops, indies, and alternative music, through CDs and radios with her family. Having a cross-cultural life, music was one of the things that made her verty connected to herself and others. As she grew, it soon became a passion to compose songs and sing. Songs were like artworks for her, or paintings. She has now landed her influences to dream pop, shoegaze, bedroom pop, indie pop, indie folk, and alternative music, and yet to grow.

Following her guts, she traveled to London with her guitar, where she had the opportunity to record her very 1st release. Watermelon Pink Blue Skies, caught the mixing engineer’s attention. It’s a captivating track with a fluidic arrangement, inventive instrumentation, seraphic vocals and a pulverulent quality to be loved. One described there’s a great potential to create a vert unique musical identity for herself. The song also made its way to KEXP Pacific Notions.

This May, she has been to LA to reunite with her mixing engineer for her new releases, and met new friends to collaborate.

And now from October 21st, she will be moving to London to expand her project, Marina Yozora.

It isn’t about moving to a new country that fascinates Marina.

It all comes from her pure passion, to want to reach people across the oceans, who may want to hear her voice, and to meet people far far away, to create something new together.

“I want to make artworks that will live long after I am gone. I want to create something that only I can make. And I want to keep making great artworlks, while I am able to.”
